Mid-Semester Grades
Mid-semester grades provide students in lower division courses (000-099) with early feedback (both positive and negative) about their academic performance. Mid-semester grades provide an opportunity for students to receive positive reinforcement and motivation if they are doing well, and to identify the courses in which they are struggling. They are notational grades which are used to help ensure the academic success of UC Merced students in lower division courses. These grades are not recorded in any permanent record or on a student’s academic transcript.
Mid-semester grades are assigned in CatCourses for the Fall and Spring semesters during the eighth week of the semester. The Office of the Registrar and SSHA Instructional Services will send reminders of when the grading system is open, but this information is also available by selecting the “Mid/Final Grades” tab in CatCourses. The process for assigning mid-semester grades is the same as assigning final grades.
